Error while trying to synchronize Audio and MIDI. Sample Rate 48000 recognized. Check conflict between GarageBand and external device. How do I do this?

I've had a small keyboard - M-Audio Ozone - hooked up to my Mac Mini through a USB and it has worked well through Garage Band until now. It tells me there is a conflict there is no sound at all coming from the keyboard. What can I do to correct this problem?

Mac mini, 10.8

I am getting this same error message in playback mode along with crackles and pops sounds. This just started happening after i record with a microphone. I was using a Scarlett 2i2 interface and just upgraded to an 18i20 and still have the problem. I have gone into the audio MIDI set up and it is already set at 44100 but I still have the problem. I have recorded several projects without this happening and it only started happening on this current project. I upgraded to GarageBand 10 a few months ago.
